Book Reviews: Mom Central- How many times have parents heard – or even said – that they wish their children had come with a guidebook? Well thanks to Maureen LoBue, now they do. Her new book, Mean Mom’s Club: The Mom’s Rule Book is the perfect resource for any woman trying to be the best mom she can. Although Maureen’s approach is tough – after all, kids need firmness and boundaries as well as love – she does not presume to tell mothers how to raise their children; rather, she provides rules of the road to help moms find their own path and emphasizes the importance of a mother’s common sense. With advice, anecdotes, and, most importantly, seven rules that every mom should follow, Maureen gives readers just the right combination of information and solidarity. Mean Mom’s Club has a wealth of information, a touch of humor, and a lot of inspiration. Whether you are about to have your first child or already have several, this is one book that is worth reading. For more information, please visit www.momcentral.com/book-reviews/
What Moms Like- Maureen LoBue of the Mean Mom's Club has written a funny, realistic book about motherhood called "Mean Mom's Club: The Mom's Rule Book". I didn't know what to expect when I cracked this book, but I have to say that I like what I see. I like that the seven rules cover common parenting ideas and myths that you realize aren't as cut and dried as you had imagined once you become a real, live mother. I like how she talks about the mommy guilt that we often feel at those moments where we just want them to stop talking and leave us alone (oh, you still have just babies? you'll see). She uses her experience as a Special Education Teacher, Child Life Specialist and Family Services Specialist and MOST IMPORTANTLY, AS A MOTHER to present real-life scenarios and common sense advice and solutions to the average mother. What I found most useful in this book is that she advocates for following your heart, using common sense, your instincts and operating from the idea and the reality that YOU know your child better than ANYONE else does and every mother's style is very different. My favorite tips (and it
was hard to narrow it down): and the point of
the book (in my eyes)... |
